CARPET team
had an enlightening moment when the Prime Minister
stopped at their booth to view their latest creation- CARPET(Car License Plate Extraction & Recognition Technology) at their exhibition booth during the National Innovation Summit 2004 held from 29th April 2004
- 1st May 2004 at the Palace of Golden Horses. Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi was given a product
briefing by APIIT's managing director,
Dr. Parmjit Singh accompanied by CARPET team members.
Prime Minister was greeted by CARPET Chief Operations Officer,
Muhammad Anis Ur Rehman; Muhammad Waqas who leads the Research as Chief
Research Officer and Technology Advisor, Mr. Yeong Sik Kheong. Prime
Minister appreciated the idea and was suitably impressed on extensive
research & development being done in this technology locally.
This was the first time, CARPET was exhibited at any
showcase and exhibitions and drew a great response from the visitors.
